ANSWERING THE CONCERNS OF THOSE READING 1 STAR RATINGS

Curious about the 1 Star ratings, I read them. YES, this is a workbook - which I usually don't really like to do. BUT THIS WAS WAY BETTER AS A WORKBOOK, than simply a book BECAUSE Priscilla has one identify their current life issues (ex -strain with a boss, feeling defeated as a mom with parenting issues, financial concerns, upcoming holidays with troublesome relatives, etc. etc.) and then has me apply the armor to these issues as we study each new piece of armor. Talk about user friendly! Each piece of armor has 5 days of study to understand and apply it to my life. #2 - THIS IS NOT A SCARE TACTIC (this is about the reality of Satan and his attempts to diminish/sabotage our relationships with God and those around us). After all, what was Jesus talking about when he told Peter, "Get behind me Satan!"? Peter was speaking out words that Satan would use to divert the Lord from defeating Satan on the Cross! Whether you like to think about Satan or not, THE TRUTH IS THAT WE ALL HAVE INNER STRUGGLES and OUTWARD CHALLENGES at times, that often spill out into our relationships with others. And this sometimes causes us to ask "WHERE ARE YOU GOD?" or "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?" The Armor of God which the Apostle Paul teaches about in EPHESIANS 6:8-10 helps us to focus on going to God with our struggles, our torn relationships, our pressing issues in life instead of trying to handle them on Our Own or being Overwhelmed by them. This is not about fearing Satan, but about how to ALWAYS BE READY TO seek God's counsel and learn to ask Him how to respond, how to put things in His hands, trusting Him, and no longer worry and no longer walk around with a defeated outlook. God is our Strength, and our biggest Encourager. He gave us Spiritual Armor TO USE! (Ephesians 6:10-18) And like any one who uses armor in a battle, we need to learn what our armor is, what it does, and how to use it. THIS IS A GREAT DEVOTIONAL book to draw you closer to the Lord and strengthen your faith. Ask the Lord and see if He thinks it's a good idea :) Then use it. You are in my prayers this day. Lord bless their walk with You. (from a Pastor's wife, Sunday School teacher to both teens and to K-5th, who also has read a lot of books as the Church Librarian and yet grown tremendously from this Study. I've been a Christian since I was 9 and yet over the past 50+ years, with great joy, I continue to grow in my walk with the Lord through good times and hard! I hope you will too!)

We dont have a lot of money to spend on things, ive used my birthday money to buy this book. I havent seen any reference/warning on this page that i have to purchase the dvds in order to make use of it. Thats not fair, because the videos are essential to it, you cant go through it without having them because you won't know what to do in the different assignments. So i basically payed $18 for a book that i cant use, and i could have used that birthday money to get something practical and edifying (which i thought i did). Very disappointed, feel cheated. There should be a CLEAR disclosure on that page saying that you must purchase the vidoes along with the book in order to do this bible study.

The study is fantastic, but my book has a serious flaw. In week 3, I have the first 2 days of material, then the page number goes from 80 to 65. It repeats the material from 65-80, then jumps up to 97. I'm missing a bunch of material (80-97) Luckily, someone else in the group had a book that wasn't messed up and was able to make a copy of my missing pages. I wish I would have come across this before my window to return/exchange it or I would request a new book. So, be sure you check your book right away for this error. Very disappointing!

This is an incredibly powerful Bible study. I did not watch the video sessions, she referenced the videos a few times in the book, but I definitely did not feel lost without watching them. The last session "The Sword of the Spirit" was video only, it did not have a written study which was a little disappointing.
The lessons include 5 days of reading on each peice of God's armor and how it relates to daily Spiritual warfare. Priscilla makes relatable connections and asks questions for Christians in all walks of life. If you humble your heart and invite the Spirit to lead you in this study, I think you'll find your confidence in His truth will deepen greatly!

Had I known I needed to rent or buy videos to go along with this bible study I never would have bought it. Nothing like charging $18 for the book and then expecting the purchaser to spend another $40 on the video if they want to do the bible study. It's people like this that makes me wonder why they're really in ministry, for God or the money?

I was facing a very hard time with my adult child, when my sister recommended that I read this book in preparation for dealing with a situation that was not from God. Ms. Shirer explained what each of the pieces of the Armor of God were, their benefits, their purpose, and how to use them, which I found very helpful in dealing with this situation. The biggest benefit I experienced was the peace of God, when using the full Armor, as it protected my mind and spirit during the many discussions I had with my child. I am at peace, and so is my adult child, having discussed the many aspects of the character of God and what He expects from His Children. Like I said in the Headline, it never hurts to understand and to use the Armor of God in your daily lives, so that you are prepared for the 'bombs' Satan like to hurl at us, especially when you aren't expecting it.

what an amazing study book and the accompanying video teaching really brings it to life. no mater if you are workingthrough it yourself or in a group it had a bountiful message. i think i ill have to do it twice as i feel that i will keep growing in strength. i love the tear out prayer cards and the space to just write your current position so when you look back... you will see just how far you have came.

I bought this book so excited to to start after hearing a sermon from Pricilla. I was so disappointed in this book. Don’t get me wrong the content is great. But a huge part of the book is video sessions you are suppose to watch to fill out part of each section. And the book also references the videos several times. I was so confused. After contacting LifeWay I was told I needed to purchase (or ‘rent’) them. Costing an addition $30-$100 depending on what you choose. There was nothing in the product description or on the book cover that indicates you need to spend additional money. I feel like I was swindled. I was so disappointed, it’s definitely not something most people can afford.
