Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Rachel Eckroth, L.Ac. #01406Rachel Eckroth, L.Ac. #01406

Rachel fell in love with acupuncture during her career as a professional dancer. She relied on it to relieve the pain of old injuries, new aches and enhance her physical energy. Through acupuncture Rachel realized the inherent wisdom of the body to heal itself. She attended the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (Houston, TX.) and received her Master’s degree.

Rachel is elated to be a part of the Modern Acupuncture team because of its commitment to making your life better. She is dedicated to working with her patients to find the most effective and nurturing path towards restoring health and well-being. She graciously treats a wide variety of conditions and health concerns ranging from pain (chronic and acute) to emotional/psychological concerns, digestive disorders and hormone imbalances.

Rachel has since retired from stage performance but regularly entertains her children and grandchildren ...and still sneaks in a bit of salsa dancing.

Nada Abu-Shafe, L.Ac. #AC01774Nada Abu-Shafe, L.Ac. #AC01774

Nada is a graduate of the American College Of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, Texas. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Nutrition from University of Houston, and feels that the acupuncture field has a lot of connection to the nutrition field.

She decided to become an acupuncturist because she likes to help people feel better physically and emotionally.  Her connection to acupuncture started as a patient when she had acupuncture treatments for migraines that worked very well.

Her favorite part of being an acupuncturist is when she has a patient who comes to her with pain, emotional stress, other issues and they leave saying “ I feel much better now”. She says it is very beautiful feeling to help people with their healing.

She decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she heard many positive things from her friends. She says it is an excellent opportunity to work in great place with great people. She also feels that Modern Acupuncture will open the door for many people to try acupuncture and learn about its many benefits.

When she’s not treating patients, Nada enjoys walking outside or in the park, especially when the weather is nice.  She also enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. When she has the time and resources she likes to travel and see different parts of the world.

Monica Andrea Vargas # AC 1969Monica Andrea Vargas # AC 1969

Monica attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. She decided to become an acupuncturist after taking her sister’s cat to a holistic veterinarian and had the opportunity to witness what the wonders acupuncture can do for pain management. This event changed her career path and life mission, and since then, she has been committed to helping others find relief from chronic pain through acupuncture. Modern Acupuncture’s mission to make acupuncture mainstream through the delivery of consistent and affordable care is why Monica choose to become part of the team. Being able to help others find balance in their health and wellness is what she loves most about her job. Marie P. Fruchtnicht, MAOM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), L.Ac. #ACO1479Marie P. Fruchtnicht, MAOM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), L.Ac. #ACO1479

Marie Graduated from The American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, TX. She studied abroad in both the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM, Hangzhou, P.R. Marie found hope again as she regained her strength and ability to live pain free. As a practitioner, she has seen acupuncture treat the whole family unit from a young child to end of life care. Marie says, “It fits all lifestyles and I encourage everyone to experience the benefits for themselves from better sleep, to less pain, and overall well-being no matter what life throws at you.” She is excited to be part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she believes in its mission to make lives better with an accessible approach to acupuncture. Plus, it's a beautiful atmosphere to work in! When asked what she loves most about Houston, Marie says “One of the things I love most about Houston is the people. There is still that southern kindness to be found, and yet a wonderfully fun diversity of global cultures.”

I LOVE Modern Acupuncture! I needed help with hormonal balance/hot flashes that I wanted to treat naturally if possible. At the time Modern Acupuncture just opened so I gave it a shot and boy am I glad I did! Not only did acupuncture help relieve my hot flashes, I was suddenly able to sleep well on the days I had my treatments (I was never a good sleeper). I couldn’t believe how acupuncture helped my stress, it was an added benefit that I didn’t know would happen. Most recently, the team has helped me with shoulder/neck pain that I spent a year and a half working with a chiropractor with minimal relief, when I brought up the problem to MA, I am seeing a huge difference in my range of motion and I actually have days where I have no pain (that hasn’t happened in years!). I can’t express how grateful I am for finding Modern Acupuncture, Rachel, Marie and Monica! They and the whole team at Modern Acupuncture are absolutely amazing!!
