What a great movie. The message here is that love takes time. In this day and age, it is good to see a positive film with a moral message. Kids are in such of a hurry and should learn that you usually have to wait for the best things in life, including love.
Such a cute movie with great messages. Wish this movie would have been around when I was a little girl. It's perfect to watch with your daughter/niece/granddaughter.

I got this movie for my daughter since she likes mermaids and fairies and whatnot. And I must admit that I really do like this movie! A mermaid becomes human temporarily and needs to have someone fall in love with her in order to stay that way. Okay, cliché. But that's where the similarities to the Little Mermaid stop. The mermaid, Aquamarine, quickly makes friends with two young teenagers and they embark on some very entertaining adventures. The only reason that I only gave 4 stars is because of the perennial problem with mermaid movies, they joke around too much teasing the viewer with the fact that mermaid is topless (though you never see her actual niples) and enjoys being human though she tends to wear less clothing than I would prefer, especially when she first becomes human. But I still like the movie.
so its a great message to young ones because it teaches them that love and friendship and relationships take time and that there is always someone in the world that loves you I know that wasn't really taught in the movie but I'm just saying that because there is always friends for you relationships out there for you

Daughter had seen this when she was little and now a senior was looking for it on Disney+. It wasn't on there but I found it on here and she was so excited to find it in her stocking. Very sweet family movie.
I think that the movie is a great story for young teens and children. I think that the story really captures the love of friendship showing that you do not need a boy, you need good friends. I personally really loved this movie and would recommend it to all ages.

I've always loved this as a child and even rewatching it as an adult it's so cute. One of my favorite movies would recommend to any fellow mermaid lover.
I watched this film randomly when there was nothing better on, expecting it to be ropey teenage rubbish. Well, it is, but it was also much better than I was expecting! I subsequently bought the dvd as a gift for my niece.
Aquamarine is engaging, entertaining and fun, with decent enough acting turns from the three leads and the lovely Arielle Kebbel as the spoiled mean girl. Sara Paxton as the titular mermaid is charming without being saccharine. She's Madison and Ariel with an added bite, and she likes to eat gummy worms.
The plot isn't very cohesive, but it's enjoyable. A few lines were real belly laughs, mostly sea-themed puns from Aquamarine herself ("Bullshark!"). There are some light fantasy elements that add interest, and some nice shots of the beach, the ocean, and swimming with 'wild' dolphins.
For younger teens/tweens, Aquamarine has a good message about the importance of friendship, standing up to bullies, and finding self-fulfilment without needing a boyfriend. For older viewers it's a harmless piece of vibrant, summery fluff to throw on in the gloomy months when you miss the sun and the seaside.
