I'm not kidding with my title. My dog, Leo, loves this movie. Starting around the 24 minute mark there's a good 20 minute stretch where there's all animal action and no humans at all. I start it at that point and let him watch, sometimes having to rewind and start all over again. He barks and wags his tail and even puts toys on the tv stand, his way of sharing his toys with his friends. He has learned when he hears the voices that his show is on, even running in from the other room when he hears their voices. This is especially good in bad weather when he's got loads of energy but it's too wet and muddy to get yard time. If you have a high energy dog who gets bored easily, try this movie! Along with chasing a laser, this is Leo's favorite indoor activity.
Homeward Bound is a story about three pets trying to find their way home -- but really, it's a story about families that are in the midst of change and the ties that bind them through it all. The movie starts out with an introduction to the main characters: three children and their pets, a bulldog named Chance who belongs to the youngest boy, a Himalayan cat named Sassy who belongs to the middle girl, and a golden retriever named Shadow who belongs to the oldest boy. When the children's mother remarries, they find their lives uprooted as they move into the city, where sadly, they are not allowed to take their beloved pets. They leave the three pets at their aunt's ranch and set off towards San Francisco. The pets (who also have speaking roles), are confused and can't understand why they have been left behind. They assume something has happened and their beloved humans must be in trouble, so they set out to find them. Along the way, they encounter obstacle after obstacle, but remained steadfast in their determination to find their family. One of the things I loved about the film was the beautiful scenery as they pets make their incredible journey. The movie is peppered with humor, some heartfelt moments, and lessons on loyalty and love. I watched this first as a kid, and even as an adult, still love it. It's a great feel-good movie that's appropriate for all ages.

This has been a favorite movie of my entire family. I would prefer this on BluRay but you get what you can. My biggest disappointment is reading through the ad and finding no mention of screen format. Well it’s 4:3 full screen which in this day and age of 4K UHD is extremely disappointing! It’s why I give it threee stars...
Besides the wonderful story and acting that accompanies this movie, one of my favorite elements in this movie is that they don't use CGI to "make" the animals talk. Use of creative shooting techniques, dedicated animal training and three distinct and talented actors are the tools used to indicate who is talking and it makes the movie so much richer because of it. Definitely recommend this movie as an excellent family movie (or for animal lovers of any age) to be watched over and over!
This is one of my favorite all time movies; I have it on Prime Video and watch it all the time; I have the other version, without the human voice overs and both versions appeal to me for different reasons, although this is the version I watch the most; As someone else mentioned, it's real animals, and while they have human voices for their thoughts, they have not been humanized. I believe my favorite scene in this version (besides the ending of course), is when they come across the lost little girl and stay with her. Brings be to tears every time! This would be a film that could be enjoyed by persons of all ages.
My family and I bought this movie to have and to keep for whenever we want to watch this amazing story about 2 dogs and a cat getting lost and finding their way home! We watched it right after we put our dog, Nugget, down. One of the very last scenes gets me every time. "He was too old." ..."Peter, I've missed you so!"

This movie brings me straight back to my childhood! I have always loved this movie about how special of a bond man's best friend truly is. My favorite part of the movie is all of the shenanigans the pets get into when trying to get back home. I'm so glad that this is on DVD now. :)
I loved this movie when I was young, and I love it now, as I have kids of my own.
It's nice and quite refreshing to watch a family movie that isn't laden with siblings who are always fighting, language that pushes the envelope just to seem "cool" and actually, with this movie, there isn't really a "bad guy." Also nice. One of the greatest parts about this movie is that the father figure in the movie isn't a jerk, like most family movies like to play out. I don't know why movie makers always do that! Men aren't inherently evil.
This will definitely be a part of our family movie rotation!
I can't gush enough about my love for this wonderful movie, I've watched it since I was little and still get the same enjoyment and emotional pull as though I'm watching it for the first time. I would highly recommend this to all animal lovers and anyone who just wants to see the pure connection between mans and his/hers best friend.

We bought this dvd for family movie night. Our 9 year old son was sceptical and was not looking forward to watching it at first because it was 'old' and looked 'boring'. However, from start to finish he was completely in awe with this film and the only disappointment remaining was that the film had ended. Now he is desperate to watch part two of this film! For us parents it was lovely to watch and would have no problem with watching it again :-)

This may sound crazy, but i bought this dvd for my dogs. We put it on the tv while we go out, and we set it to repeat. Our dogs used to trash the house and bark for the duration that we were out, and it led to a few complaints from our neighbours. we stumbled across the film on tv one day and noticed our dogs sat and watched the whole film. So we decided to buy it and it has worked. I swear my Golden Retriever thinks she is actually in the film. I have to say though, that secretly, i also enjoy the movie.
This film is a classic for me, I remembered watching this as a child and I wanted to relive it. I was a little worried as films may not seem the same when you watch them again when you are older. This film however did not disappoint me. Its got a lovely story line, myabe a little cheesy but its expected. The story line is about 2 dogs and a cat trying to get home. The character of the dogs and cat are brilliant and even though the dogs and cat mouths don't move like modern animal films, you really feel the character's. This film is highly recommended and even if you have seen it before you should relive it or perhaps show itpto a younger generation so they can enjoy it.
