This movie needs a case of kleenex in the best way possible.
I sat down to watch this by myself because my husband doesn't do "chick flicks". My husband wandered in about 15 or 20 minutes in. Somewhere around the 1/2 way mark, he was wondering why we were watching this, irritating me greatly. I was full on bawling and loving the movie, knowing how it ended but trying to wait for it. I sat and cried, and my husband continued to make comments, I finally turned on him to tell him to go in the other room and hush and he was sitting there with tears streaming down his face. In 22 years of marriage I have seen him get teary (not cry) only once. This tells you how emotional it was.
That said, I loved it, anything that can pull your heart strings that hard is a 5 star movie. I think the only other movie that made me cry like that was Steel Magnolias. So excellent film. I fell in love with the family.
The family is a christian family, so God is mentioned both good and bad, and by that I mean sometimes he gets credit and sometimes he gets blamed, and sometimes well meaning followers are less than christian, but this movie addresses all of that and does it well.
