A snooty young socialite hits her head, loses her memory, and is scooped up by a small-town con man looking for a mom for his four rowdy boys - how long can the hilarious charade go on?

My wife and I love this movie. After all these years it still holds up for us. The blu ray seems a bit clearer with better sound than the standard DVD we owned, but not worth buying unless you love the movie or you don't have a standard DVD copy. The images are very clear. The color is excellent. The sound is vibrant. Garry Marshall always does great directing for these romantic comedies. There are no extras on this blu ray version. This blu ray DVD is not authored with "resume play" so each time you stop it, it starts over from the beginning. A bit irritating for those of us who are not able to watch this movie in one, uninterrupted sitting.
Sometimes, you find one or two films that you can watch over and over and still laugh at the same scenes. This movie is most definitely entertaining. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn bring to life these two characters and the whole plot is brilliant. It is not snobbish, it is simple; it is not rude and yet filled with funny things. If you want to watch something that is not violence or overly covered in adult scenes or with a theme that upsets you and instead end the movie feeling good then this movie is the right mental de-stressor for anyone. It is not necessarily an Oscar winning movie, it is simply fabulously entertaining. I leave it for you to decide and enjoy after a long day at work or when you are feeling like all the other 800 or more channels of your cable does not offer one thing worth watching. I have seen this movie many times, from when it was first out to when we had it in DVD and now streaming. A good one to see if you want to have a good time. Thank you.
I don't own many comedies on DVD, as repeated viewings rarely stay funny once you know the jokes or humor, (I own over 600 films on DVD), but this is one of my favorite comedies, mainly because the story is clever, and it manages to be "heartwarming", despite its sometimes slapstick scenes. Not sophisticated, but okay for families with children over about 9 whose parents are not offended by PG to marginally PG-13 films. One of the few comedies that most enjoy repeatedly, if not seen too often. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell seem to be having as much fun as the viewer is likely to have. If you haven't seen this, and enjoy mass audience films, this comedy is almost sure to satisfy.
After equal pay for equal work has been achieved, what more is there to do? The answer is clearly to establish the legitimacy of female choice to return to traditional women roles such as housewife and housework while sitting on a bundle of cash earned the hard way -- through inheritance. This film shows the value of that path and an ethical, completely normal seduction of a feminist wrought on self destruction by a manly and morally superior carpenter. We get a true look here at the advantages of motherhood over sloth -- free children to take care of, a manly man to boff, and learning to cook and drink beer. All great aspects of this modern heiress fully brought into the ideal lifestyle as intended by those who crafted human genes. Underappreciated comedic stalwart Mike Hagerty shines here in arguably his best film work other than Inspector Gadget.
Goldie, by the time you're 1/2 way through this film, she's totally won your heart. And the chemistry between them is so tangible, it kind of warms up the film from the inside out. Some women might be offended by the way this story unfolds but it's meant in a light-hearted way so somehow, I wasn't offended by it. Especially as the story rolls along and evolves. Have been a Goldie Hawn fan for a few decades now Lol and love her in this.
Every line in this movie is quotable!!! I know it all by heart and I've seen it no less than 50 times but it never gets old. If it's on television, I have to watch it. If it's not on television I often put this dvd on. Puts me in a better mood without fail.
Loved the plot. I found myself cringing at the male-female attitudes from just two generations ago, but I still loved the comedy and sniffled happily at the end. What's not to love with that? Demanding and unhappy yacht queen versus a muscled carpenter (I had forgotten how beautiful these two actors were and the charisma they brought to a film!).
I would have given this a five-star rating, but the Blu-ray picture is sometimes a bit grainy and the audio is often uneven. Worst of all, this Blu-ray disc has no way to resume play. Each time you stop it, it starts again at the beginning and you have to fast-forward to find the place where you last watched. I think this should have been a standard feature on a Blu-ray disc, and is therefore worth a star less than it should be.
Bottom line, though, the movie is worth it at this low price. I just would rather pay a few more bucks and get a better quality Blu-ray disc!
I've always loved this movie. Comedy with a twist of karma & romance all wrapped into 1 movie.
A rich snob hires a carpenter (of course she has to snub his appearance) to "fix" her closet. Since nothing can appease her she complains about it & fails to follow through on the contract. Well in a sudden change of circumstances after an accident, the carpenter decides to get paybacks. He brings her to his home, where he & his 4 boys moved to sometime after his wife passed away, where she believes the boys are her children & doing crazy household chores.
Watch the movie to see the comedy & romance unfold.

I would have liked it and the condition seems good but sadly, I failed to understand the meaning of 'Region 1' and cannot play it on my player. When contacted, the seller was most courteous but cannot replace it as he has no 'Region 2' copy so I have to return it. This in no way reflects on the seller.
