Pollyanna is an orphan who brings sunshine into the lives of everyone she meets. But her aunt doesn't appreciate her effervescent niece, and it isn't until she almost loses her that the aunt realizes the true power of love and lightheartedness.

Wanted a movie the whole family would enjoy. My wife came up with this movie. I had never seen it before. Sat down and the kids 8, 6, and 2 enjoyed it and sat and watched it the whole way through. Great movie about being glad in all things. Good story, great message. I would recommend this movie to anyone. It isn't a mondern movie with CGI and all that, but also isn't a movie with any language or similar that is in todays movies.
The discs come in a plastic snap case and play fine. This is a great family movie. I recommend some television series that are just as good or better: Anne of Green Gables (1985), Anne of Green Gables the Sequel (1987), Anne of Avonlea (1975), When Calls the Heart (2014- ), and Anne With an E (2017- ). All of the series feature wonderful locations and great characters, but the newest series have the best production values, best colors, etc., due to digital technology. I like them all.
If you’re looking for good stuff to watch consider miniseries like The Astronauts Wives Club (2015), Band of Brothers (2001), Frank Herbert’s Dune (2000), Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune (2003), Into the West (2005), Lonesome Dove (1989), Manhattan (2014-2015), Return to Lonesome Dove (1993), Pride and Prejudice (1995), Taken (2002), and The 10th Kingdom (2000), which are all terrific because they have clear beginnings that establish an objective, then strong middles and conclusive endings where the goal is achieved, like a good novel.
Other shows I’ve really enjoyed include Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009), Breaking Bad (2008-2013), Cowboy Bebop (1998), Downton Abbey (2010-2015), Firefly (2002), Game of Thrones (2011-2019), Granite Flats (2013-2015), The IT Crowd (2006-2013), Jericho (2006-2008), Lost (2004-2010), Merlin (2008-2012), The Prisoner (1967-1968), Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011), Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010), Stargate: SG-1 (1997-2007), Stargate: Atlantis (2004-2009), Star Trek (1966-1969) and Star Trek Voyager (1995-2001). I didn’t list any contemporary series I’m following that don’t have an end date yet, not conducive to binge watching from beginning to finish.
If you like reading try some of my favorite fantasy and sci-fi authors: Richard Adams, Palo Bacigulupi, Suzanne Collins, Abe Evergreen, Diana Gabaldon, Hugh Howey, George Martin, Brandon Sanderson, John Scalzi, and Andy Weir.
What a great film. A true classic. Hayley Mills doesn't sound like an American girl, but in every other way she is perfection. A funny, sweet, and moving story of an orphan thrust into a new life and struggling to deal with issues of class and money. And finally facing tragedy that shakes her faith in herself and life itself. The love of those whose lives she has touched with her simple belief in the goodness of life makes it possible for her to find her strength and courage again.
Had seen this as a kid, and maybe due to pandemic brain I had a desire to revisit this (I'm 60). What a great remembrance from childhood - and actually the movie definitely holds up today. Kids will appreciate it (in my opinion girls and some younger boys), and really adults will appreciate this - if they have a soft spot for the flavor of Disney and the warm and fuzzies that Disney stuff use to bring to people (Mary Poppins, etc). And if you watch the movie - you will understand, but I had bought a standing lamp that had hanging crystals just because it spoke to me from childhood wonder. I will also add that seeing a slice of life from the early 1900's is for me personally - fascinating.

A classic movie that is still enjoyable. I saw this movie with my mother when I was 7 or 8 and it brings back memories. Hayley Mills is just perfectly cast in this role and makes the movie. The costumes are great. They don't make movies like this anymore.
Loved growing up on movies like Pollyanna! Of course anything with Haley Mills is bound to be good, clean family entertainment. This movie got worn out on VHS when I was a little girl, and I wanted to be reminded as an adult how to look for the good in all situations -- this movie will show you how!
Classic movie...so sweet. The book is better! I watched with my 4th grade daughter who just read the book for class and she was disappointed in the details that were left out. As a mom, I love that. I find the books are always better anyway! If your child likes the movie, I encourage you to have them read the book. Great vocabulary words and sweet story. We should all go around playing the "Glad Game"

Great movie. I've started buying more movies - we have begun collecting hardcopies of 'classics' so we can make sure we have access to them as streaming services don't always seem to have these or KEEP them around. This was a purchase like that - make sure it stays part of our collection. Very good family movie from the golden age of Disney films. Hayley Mills is delightful and the story is one to remember. 'Death comes unexpectedly!' is part of our house's lexicon as a result of this film.
One of my all times favourite movies, and on my top 5 list. I have watched this over thirty times since I Were a Little girl. This film got everything, and most be one of the best movies for children ever made. Every actor is superb in their roles, and Haley deserves many Awards for her wonderful Pollyanna:) Highly reccomended for small as grownups!

I first saw this film when I was about 8 or 9 years old and loved it, and Hayley Mills, from the word go. I think her acting is superb, although her American accent is a still strange sometimes, but nevertheless, she brings such magic to the role. Some have criticised the choice of actor for various other parts but I found no problem with any of them. It is both a sad and happy story but ultimately uplifting, even at the end. I can watch this film so often and never get bored with it. I would recommend it to anyone who still has some child left in them, regardless of their age, and someone who loves a happy and sunny outlook on life, even when the water's rising and we have months left until the sun begins to shine again.
