This is an awesome box set for the 40th anniversary of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It's about 5 or so years old now, and is worth picking up if you are a collector like myself, or just love this film.
The only con is I didnt get my golden ticket in my release, and the digibook unfortunately was taped shut and I had to leave the tape on after cutting it because the tape was pedaling the finish on the digibook. Which would've ruined the cover. No big deal since it doesn't really make much of a difference. It's more a collector gripe than legitimate flaw. But other than that it's a great release!!

It is a classic for a good reason. Beauiful, insane, and silly in all the best ways possible. Gene Wilder is an amazing actor, and the cast with him are certainly no slouches.
In a word, everything is utterly believable, from the candy that makes you turn into a blueberry, to the tiny, orange singing men.

It's amazing! The Blu-ray in this 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition box set has crystal-clear picture and high-definition sound.
It's kind of odd how some of the language tracks have the songs dubbed as well but the others don't.
I like the extras that were on the 2001 and 2005 DVDs and 2007 HD DVD, such as the "Pure Imagination" documentary and the "Tasty Vintage" featurette. I also like the "Mel Stuart's Wonkavision" and "A World of Pure Imagination" featurettes on the extras DVD.
I like the collectibles, such as the "Making Of" book and the Wonka Bar tin with scratch-and-sniff pencils and chocolate-scented eraser, but I won't use the pencils or eraser for anything.
I recommend this box set. It's a great set to add to your Wonka collection.

2. very dated:
a. script has one of the "bad" children as fat and greedy
b. sets are obviously fake and cheap
c. workers at factory are in terrible makeup
3. Scary for children. The bad children disappear. Are they alright?
4. The bad children should be taught a lesson and redeemed as in the book Madeline and the Bad Hat. The bad children should not disappear into a garbage dump with a furnace!
5. The ending is ridiculous.
I know this is not a modern movie that can use CGI. However, it looks pathetic compared to The Wizard of Oz that was made in 1939.

My daughter is obsessed with the movie Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. I have gone to walmart and target looking for the DVD but was unsuccessful. I knew I could buy it online but I didn't want to pay a lot of money. I found this used copy for a fair price. I was worried about the condition even though it was considered very good. Well my daughter is thrilled. She has watched it several times with no problems. The condition and price were perfect! I encourage others to buy used DVD's from this company!!

I bought this movie to be part of a celebration our Extended Day Program was having. I placed the order on Wednesday. The order was placed in plenty of time so that it would be delivered the next day. The celebration was going to be on Friday. I looked the next morning at the order and it said it would arrive by 10 PM that night. It did not arrive. I checked the order status today (Friday) and it says arriving today by 10 PM. I thought, maybe it will arrive early and we could still watch it. By 2 PM we decided to cancel the pizza and wait until we come back from Spring break. We were also going to make candy. The kids won a contest against the other Extended Day Programs for a video we made about Motown to celebrate Black History Month. The video ended with the kids singing Candy Man. Sammy Davis Jr. was a part of Motown for a short time. Then I found out one of the students had never seen an oompa loompa before. The candy is the prize they won from the office for winning first place, my sister and I were buying the pizza. We were going to surprise the kids with all of this today. Unfortunately it didn't happen.

The clear wrapper around the sides of the dvd tells you and when u look inside, it is there! The movie came in perfect condition. The colors are vibrant and sharp! The movie included all the features, like documentary, commentary, The words to the songs, Theatrical trailer all in ONE DVD!! The children actors are shown as adults and they speak about the movie and also, about what they are doing now in there lives. It also, includes gallery photo of the actors. So, don’t forget to watch the special features, it’s very interesting and knowledgeable! This movie has definitely been one of my favorite as a child and now as an adult! Five stars for Mayon Products and Amazon. I will be looking for more movies sold by Mayon Products! GB!!

I got this set on a Deal Of The Day as I love the movie. I had been hoping to get the Blu Ray collector's edition of this movie and was pleased that it finally dropped to a price I could afford. I found the image and sound to be exceptional - much better than the earlier DVD edition I had. The extras goodies - book, pencil case and movie notes included are enjoyable as well. The book was especially enjoyable as it offers some exceptional insight into the making of this classic film.

While I don't get Blu Rays for the extra features, it is nice to find something of value when you purchase a collector's edition. The movie only Blu Ray and DVD include little with the only item of any length being a behind the scenes feature from an earlier release of the movie. There was an extra 'special features' disc, so there must be more great stuff there! Unfortunately, this was a really meager batch of extras that seemed thrown together with little thought. For such a special movie, I expected more than a few echo filled interviews from the actors.

If you love this movie and can find this set at a great price, it is worthwhile. Just don't expect anything incredibly special.

I absolutely love this! The fact that the producer and writers made Gene Wilder's portray Willy Wonka as a father figure in disguise for Charlie is what sold me. Just the way he tested Charlie at the end with the everlasting gobstopper and the way he angrily reprimanded them for stealing fizzy lifting drinks is a moral test to. He knew that Charlie's weakness was his honesty, but he wanted to see if the boy would actually leave the gobstopper or to take it to Slugworth aka Wilkinson.
It's totally obvious he already knew about Charlie having a hard life practically told by Wilkinson the day when he confronted the boy for the gobstopper and wanted the entire family to move in the factory, so he had to test the boy to see if he was honest enough to return the gobstopper or take it to Slugworth.
