I’ve been getting a lot of requests to do a post on a really good t-shirt. Well, it’s had me doing a lot of thinking. Maybe there is no such thing as a perfect tee, and even if there was it would probably cost an arm and a leg. Although, since I wear t-shirts so often I would probably pay it- ha! Anyway, I wanted to post about the tee I’ve been wearing a lot lately. Is it the perfect tee? Well, pretty close. I found this tee at J. Crew Factory. I love it because it’s light weight and slubby, which allows it to lay nicely and create a good silhouette without hugging- essential. I also love the v-neck because it’s not too low cut. Now, I do have to watch it when I bend over and it is a little see through (but not nearly as bad as most of the ones I’ve seen). Still, I don’t feel like I have to wear a camisole underneath.
Here it is a again on a different day.
No, I don’t have watches to show you inside my jacket- ha! I just wanted to show the fit and silhouette of the tee.

I love your blog! I have a question about tees…EVERY cotton tee I buy gets destroyed by my jeans after 1-2 wears! Its so frustrating and I end up throwing them away like disposable tees! Do you know what I am talking about (little holes that appear right in the front) Any suggestions or types of tees that hold up better?

Try the boyfriend tee by Mossimo from target in white. They’re V-neck,fitted and cheap! I always buy 3 or 4. They also have round neck, but I love the V-neck. They are in the ladies clothes section, but they scoop up quickly.

I’m guessing you wear a small…could you verify? That would help me in knowing what size to order myself!

Thanks so much for this post. I’ll check them out.

Jill, I know exactly what you’re talking about. I suspect the really expensive tees wouldn’t get holes. If I find one, I’ll post it. I’m on a mission.
Kristen, Is this the correct shirt: http://bit.ly/VKnmtt
Lindsy, I’m wearing an xs. Hope that helps.

If this is the “vintage” t-shirt from JCrew, it’s my absolute favorite of all time. I’ve got them in all colors. It’s a bit thin and a few of mine have gotten small holes in them, but they’ll gladly exchange them for a new one. Thanks for this post – I live in these T’s!
Oh, and second runner up is definitely the “boyfriend” v-neck from Target. This is one of the few areas I’m a pro at in the clothing department.

I have that t-shirt in 3 different solid colors and 3 different stripe combinations! It’s even on my list of favorite things for next Friday. It is pretty dang near close to the perfect t!

Any suggestions for long tees? I’m 5’11” and can never find any quite long enough. Especially necessary when bending over often to play with/pick up the kids! Help!
Also just curious, how tall are you? When thinking about your looks on me, I’m never quite sure how they will work.

I need a rec for a longer, basic good tee, too! Thanks!

My favorite tee is black and it’s from J. Crew, too! But it’s years old and I even re-dyed it because I love it so much. Your tee looks good – I love basics like that.

Darn, that’s not it. It’s actually written as follows inside the tee.
