You’ve probably noticed these boots everywhere but, like me, didn’t know the proper name for the boot or their origin. The orignal boot is by Stuart Weitzman and they are half leather, half synthetic stretchy material, hence 50/50 or 5050. This design allows for stretch throughout the leg no matter your calf size. It also allows for the boot to stay pulled up over the knee, so there’s minimal bunching at the ankle. After the faux leather jacket post (I just got my jacket in the mail and I am crazy about, post here) Nicole called me with another great find!
The Stuart Wietzman are on the left and the steals are on the right (they all go over the knee). I found the Franco Sarto boot and I think they are a dead ringer for the Stuart Wietzman pair, and at a 1/3 of the price! The pair Nicole called me about are from Ann Taylor (on the far right). I can’t decide which one I like more. I like that the Ann Taylor pair are owning the look, but have added their own spin with the gold heel- not so knock off-ish (you know what I’m saying?). But then the Franco Sarto are so spot on that it makes me want those. Regardless you can’t go wrong.
For those of you who aren’t crazy about the over the knee look, I saw these while shopping at Kate Spade Saturday and I love them. I especially love the sole, it looks equestrian and classic. I can just see someone out of a Ralph Lauren ad wearing these.

Great finds on the boots! I like the visual options of all the different ways to wear them, too. “Over the knee boots” sound like something that would be over-the-top, but it really looks like there are a lot of ways to wear them and still keep it casual and classy.

I’m headed to the mall today, and I’m really going to try to find a pair of over the knee! Didn’t know I wanted them until now!

I have the originals. Worth the investment! The leather is so much nicer.

So I tried on the Stuarts at Nordstroms and just couldn’t let myself buy them….the leather was amazing but the price scared me. So I ordered the 2nd pair (the Francos) off piperlime and they just arrived. Fit well….nice leather but not like the real things. The calf dips in a lot and it is pretty fitted, where as the Stuart was straighter and less curvy. I’m gonna keep the Francos bc I haven’t found an over the knee, leather black boot anywhere, and certainly not for only $200. They also do look amazing from the front….perfect with leggins or a great pair of skinnies. Just posting in case anyone else needs the info!
