Black Tie

I might be a total loser for admitting this, but I actually get excited when I get an invitation to a black tie event. Especially when the invitation is from a good friend! But here’s the thing, it’s so hard to find a black tie dress! My friend said it best the other night, you don’t want your dress to look like a bridesmaid or mother of the bride dress.

So, when David Peck posted this picture on his Instagram feed, I loved it! And then he posted that he was having a studio SALE and I was in. I HAD to go see the dress, even if I had to take my 4-year-old with me (ok, that was a big mistake, BIG) -ha!

I think I may be the last person in Houston to know about David Peck. When my friends would ask about my dress, I would say it was by David Peck and every single one of them said something like, “oh yeah he makes amazing dresses!”. I’ve been seeing this trend of jersey knit formal dresses and I’m loving it. It feels modern and dressy, yet there’s no embellishments. I think it’s because of the way the fabric drapes. It also feels dressy without to much fuss, you know? And, the fabric is comfortable and you can pack it easily, too!

My friend told me that she also wears the dress with the V in front! Wait, I totally just scored two dresses for the price of one -ha! Now, I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you guys about my undergarments. I remember when I first started reading fashion blogs, I would always want to know what they were wearing under their outfits for support!! I’m wearing a Nu Bra (this one) and Spanx (this one), of course -ha! What would we do without Spanx?! I’m just saying.
