Happy Monday! There is nothing like beating the Monday morning blues with pretty house pictures! My family and I stayed in this beautiful cottage in California this summer. If I saw this house on the street, I would immediately want to see inside! I’m a ‘Curious George’ like that. Assuming I wasn’t the only one who likes to look at pretty house pictures, I made my family promise to not touch anything while I ran through the house taking pictures like a crazy women! I wanted to be able to share it with you guys!
Have you seen a cuter bench?!?! I want this bench. Now I just need to know where to find it… Anyone?
These orchids greeted us when we walked in the door. It made me want to keep orchids in my entry. If only I could keep them alive!
This kitchen! This kitchen! I have been so inspired by this home- especially this kitchen. I love the white subway tile covering the entire back wall, I love the light fixture over the table, and I love the white cabinets! I see white cabinets and…
…white walls in my future! I’m serious. If anyone can recommend a good white paint for walls and cabinets, I’m all ears!
Have you even been annoyed with your big clunky lamps taking up so much space on your nightstand? Well, guess what else I see in my future… arm lamps! They don’t take up a ton of space, and you can adjust the light to shine right where you need it. Now I just need to find them. Any suggestions?
How cool is this shower?! The bench on the left has a hand shower, which was perfect for getting my boys clean after a day at the beach.
I love this modern canopy bed and the green arm lamps!
I love this bedding, and the way the bed was made. It has made me want to mix up the way I make my own bed at home! I also like that the bedding isn’t extremely feminine. In fact, this gender-neutral theme was prevalent throughout the house, and it’s really inspired me!
There were window seats on either side of the canopy bed.
It’s amazing what a colorful piece of art can do for a room.
I loved all the functioning windows, but I really loved the dutch back door and this back porch area.
The back stairs lead down to the cutest…
…outdoor shower (I like the teak shower mat), and…
Can I transport this back porch and the California weather to Houston? Ha!
That’s it guys! Wasn’t it pretty?!?! We rented the house from VRBO, you can find it here. The owner, Patrick, is the nicest guy. He paid such attention to detail and put so much care into his home – he even had fresh flowers for us! I was grateful he shared it with us! Too bad the neighbors weren’t as friendly as he was… You can read more about that in my “Vacation Gone Awry” post.

The lights on the bedside table are Tolomeo Desk Lamps. You can find them at Design Within Reach in Highland Village, or on line. We have one on either side of our bed. They are wonderful.

Hi Carly!
I love the kitchen and baths in that house too. For some good whites you could check out Simply Seleta’s blog. She’s written a lot about white paint choices. Studio McGee also did a round up of favorite white paints. Of course they look different in every space though.
