Pulling It All Together

I was working with a client in her closet recently and I had an, “Oh, I’m so posting about this!” moment.  You guys have told me that you like the “styling tips”, and I thought this one was definitely worth sharing.

My client and I were putting together outfits and I kept going back to this one black and gold pendant necklace.  It just seemed to perfectly complete and pull together so many outfits! Here’s why- if you look at my outfit above as a piece of art (ok, it’s sooo not but hold on, hear me out) and you’re trying to get the composition right, your goal would be for your eye to keep moving.  So, imagine a piece of art with a black spot on the bottom (shoes) and black spot on the top (sweater), you’d probably want a little black in the middle to keep your eye moving. That’s why the pendant was the perfect addition to my outfit!  It’s like Santa’s black belt, you see what I’m saying?!?!

And the ring just keeps the eye moving, too -ha!  Well, when Kendra Scott invited me to check out their new collection and I saw these two pieces, I knew they were exactly what I’d been looking for. I love how the gold and black in the necklace and ring tie in the animal print flats.  Just imagine the cream blouse without the Kendra Scott necklace. It would be fine, but the black pendant pulls it all together, no?

I had to include this picture because it cracks me up.  I look like I’m posing for Olan Mills with my hand on my chin.  I was trying to show you guys the pretty ring and instead it just looks contrived -hahaha!
