I’ve received some requests to see more pictures of my home. I never know what you guys are interested in or what is post worthy, and most of the time it’s a guessing game. So, thank you for your requests! This also happens to be why I included an outfit picture in this post. When I saw my friends today, they both wanted to know where my shirt was from, so I knew it was post worthy. Plus, it’s a total steal!
While I don’t take full credit for any of my house stuff (my sister, tellittoyourneighbor, helps me with all of it), I do enjoy “playing house” (as my husband calls it), aka decorating.
But, I can’t take ANY credit for this bookcase, because my sister did it all.
I had been doing little projects around the house all summer and I was tired of arranging stuff. My sister swooped in and tackled this bookcase.
Tray- One Kings Lane, Book- Biscuit Home, Frame- Kuhl-Linscomb, but can be found online at Furbish Studio, Acrylic Riser- Mecox (in store), Whale- SPACE in Nantucket
On my break from the blog, we went house accessory shopping. I didn’t realize how important little things were for accessorizing or doing bookcases, like the acrylic riser the whale is on or the tray that hold the book and frame. I had been looking for the perfect place to put my favorite picture of my sister, cousin, aunt and me at the beach. What better place than in front of The New York Times 36 Hour (150 Weekends in the US & Canada) book? After all, I’ve been on lots of fun 36 Hour trips with these gals. But, I didn’t get this idea on my own. I got it from my sisters bookcase post (here).
Bookends- Cyan Design/West Elm for similar, Glass Knot- West Elm, Alarm Clock- Antique
These were our moms Reader’s Digests that she collected. I kept trying to use them in my bookcase, but it was causing a lot of overcrowding problems. Well, my sister didn’t even try to use them, she must have known. She had them in a pile on the side, and I decided to stack them for fun. What a happy happenstance, because I really like the whimsical look it gives along the side of the bookcase!
Top- Urban Outfitters, Flares- J Brand, Shoes- Calvin Klein, Tank- Target,Earrings-Argento Vivo, Station Necklace-Nordstrom for similar, Solitaire Necklace-Shopbop, Bracelet-Giles and Brother, Watch- Michael Kors
Can you believe this top is only $34.00?!?! To me it looks like it’s from a luxe t-shirt brands, like this one. Although, I really like that one, too! Ha! Anyway, I love it and so did my friends, so I had to share!

I was wondering if I can inquire where you purchased your whale sculpture. You mentioned on a trip. I would love to buy one for my home. was it the cape?

Travis, I’m so excited because I was able to find the store! We purchased the whale at SPACE on Old South Wharf in Nantucket. I’m glad you like the whale as much as we did!
