A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to check out the Nordstrom denim department. While I was there, I found my new favorite (not too) distressed jeans and had a moment where I had to catch myself. As you all know, I find the sales associates in the Nordstrom denim department very helpful (I blogged about it here). I always tell my clients to trust them and to listen to their recommendations. They see different body types in their denim all day, so who better to know what will look good on you?
Well, I need to practice what I preach. Yonnie (at the Houston Galleria Nordstrom) recommended that I try a pair of high waisted skinny jeans. I told her, “Oh no, I don’t wear high waisted jeans, they give my no booty self a long booty.” But Yonnie pushed back, as she should. Then that little voice in the back of my mind reminded me of my own advice. Well, not only was Yonnie right, but I ended up with not just one but TWO pairs of high waisted jeans (here and here).
A lot of women prefer high waisted jeans, and it makes sense that they like the extra coverage. It helps avoid the unwanted peek-a-boo crack and the inevitable spillage over the top of the waist band (everyone has it). I really loved the darker grey color of these jeans. Light grey can be so tricky because they show a lot… they’re almost as tricky as white jeans. I also like the ankle length of these jeans.
I’ve been asked a couple of times if it’s OK for your ankles to be seen right above your bootie. My answer is YES. In fact, it’s heck YES! I love the look!
