My mom was an artist and designer and her style was amazing. Of course, she had her questionable style moments (as we all do), but that’s exactly like me and that’s the reason she’s my style icon- ha! My sister sent me these pictures recently with the title T. Style (T. for Tracy) with the text “it’s in your blood.”
I want to know where she got her sandals and I love the length of her shorts. No matronly shorts for her! Maybe posing is in my blood, too! I mean, how gutsy is it to hang off the side of a ship and who posts pictures of themselves in a bathing suit on the internet?!?! Oh, and I’m pretty sure I’d buy that romper right now if I saw it in a store!
This white blazer reminded me of my recent cocktail post (here), but I like her outfit more- ha! The necklace she is wearing with her black dress is almost identical to the layered necklace I wear way too much on this blog (here)- ha!
I’m pretty sure Anthropologie has a shirt just like this right now.
My mom passed away 10 years ago. Mother’s Day used to just pass by during those early years after losing her, but now that I’ve had kids, Mother’s Day is hard for me. I now realize all the hard work she put into being the best mom she could be. No, she wasn’t perfect. In fact, far from it. But that’s just it, none of us are perfect, and being a mom is hard work no matter what. I know, just like me, she was trying to do her best and now I just want to thank her for it. I look forward to the day I get to tell her in heaven!

Erica – your Mom was such an influence to me for her dress, décor, friendship & faith. I remember when I first met her in high school I wanted to be her friend because she was so much fun to be around, and then when we went to college together we bonded even more about our Mothers. You are so right, most Mother’s just do the best they can. I remember she decorated her dorm room so cute, it made the rest of ours look like a boring hotel room! It was really her friendship though that I cherished and how she influenced me to accept the Lord personally which I will ever be so indebted to her. We lost another one, Laurie, of our original six pack group a few years ago, so keep those close friends of yours because they too will be gone some day. Thanks for sharing & loved the pics – I remember every single outfit you showed. Sincerely, Lyn Thomas
