Copy Cat

This post was inspired by a moment I had with a client recently. She wanted to know different ways she could wear her army jacket, and after discussing a few ways, I remembered a great tip! Sometimes when I am totally stumped, I will head to Pinterest for  outfit ideas. In this particular instance, I showed her that you can simply type in the search bar “green army jacket outfits” and up pops a TON of outfit inspiration!

On Pinterest I have a “looks” board that I’m always pinning outfit inspiration to. For instance, I am always looking for new ways to wear my shirtdress (you’ve seen it here and here). So I was excited when I came across this pin, because I was able to give my shirt dress a totally different look. Obviously it’s not exact, but it’s pretty darn close…

I tied my jacket around my waist to give my shirtdress a waistline (I do this trick a lot), and I used the black bag and shoes I had. I’m pretty much a copy cat, and I’m OK with that.

I think copying sometimes has a negative connotation, but I’m always copying- or shall I say, taking inspiration- from things I see. Whether it’s something I see in nature, a room design I love, or an outfit, I’m always finding inspiration and recreating it in my own way. Regardless of what you call it, I’ll copy, mimic, or be inspired and own every second of it. To me it’s just the creative cycle going round and round. I love to copy, and every time I copy, I love to give credit. To me it’s like saying, “Yay, you inspired me!”
