How to: Flares

Last summer, I felt like I wore my white skinny jeans every time I went “out”. This summer, I wanted a different option and these flare jeans have been just that. I have a few tips for wearing flare jeans, so I thought I would share.

I like flares to have a long lean look, therefore I’m a little neurotic about the length. If the jeans puddle at the bottom, it messes up the long lean line. I like for mine to be just above the floor, with a tiny break in the front, and I really like it if they are almost covering my shoe. Truth be told, I think these flares could be a little longer on me. I think I’ll stretch them next time their wet -ha!

I also find that some sort of heel is best when you wear flare jeans, because it aids in the long lean look. But you don’t want your heels to be too high or your flares will be high waters -ha!

And I also find that it’s important to show a waistline by either wearing a top that hits you at the waist or with a sloppy tuck. If you’d rather wear a tunic, it’s best for it to hit past your hips to the thinner part of your thigh (to avoid an attention grabbing horizontal line at the hips, wink).
