Reinvent It

Well, I have never been one to wait and wear my new clothes. If I buy something new, I have to wear it right away! I’ve been like this ever since I was little. So naturally I was going to find a way to wear my new Nordstrom Anniversary army jacket! Even if I was slightly hot walking to the car in 97 degree heat. Not to worry, I was cold everywhere else -ha!I love how this jacket gives you a waistline even if there is no waistline clearly defined. Like in this picture, the black cotton sundress basically just hangs straight (which makes it extremely comfortable!). But when I put this crop jacket on top, it gave it the illusion of a waistline even though dress doesn’t have one.
Although this dress is really comfortable, it has it’s issues (as so many things in our closet’s do). But with a little creativity, I whipped this dress into shape -ha! I don’t really like the hem line of this dress (it’s too long in the back and midi length in the front), but I love the way it looks when I tie a knot on the side (the knot post here). Another thing about this dress is it always shows my bra straps, and the back shows my bra (which is why I usually wear it as a cover up). But my new jacket hides these issues! So in the end, the dress stays in my closet, because I’ve been able to make it work as a cover up and by using a couple of tricks as well. Do you have an item like this is your closet?
I love wearing tennis shoes with dresses. To me, it’s an unexpected cool, casual look, and it works so well for my lifestyle. Who knew I was going to love these black high tops so much?!?! There are some really great similar ones (here), and there is another great pair in the Anniversary Sale (here). Oh, and I couldn’t help but wear my new earrings, too!
