Do you guys remember when I would post my favorite finds all the time?! I haven’t in so long! It’s funny how times change. For these posts, I used to go around to stores and have my sister-in-law take pictures when no one was looking (or so I hoped). Well, now I shop online a ton… I’d say almost half the time. It’s so easy, especially with Nordstrom‘s free shipping and returns!
I’ve been in desperate need of some new cold weather clothes. So when Nordstrom reached out to me to do a post on fall clothing, it was just the motivation I needed to really shop for fall!
In this post you’ll find my favorite jackets, tops, denim and shoes for fall!
Jacket:
Topshop Moto Jacket – When I was helping my friend, Lauren (@laurensmills), in her closet, I was a little obsessed with her black leather moto jacket. We paired it with everything, and to me, it really added the perfect amount of edge to her outfits. It got me thinking about buying a moto jacket myself. I started looking into purchasing one, and most of the moto jackets I liked were $500 or more. Yikes!
Then I tried on this one and just felt really hip and cool. And when I saw that it was $280 and not $500, I decided to drop the hammer. I’ve worn it every day it’s been cool outside since. It’s really taken all my outfits up a notch, and it’s surprising how versatile it is! I’ve worn it with a t-shirt and jeans, with a dress, and with my new black workout pants (follow along on Instagram to see all these looks). I’m so happy with this purchase. It was a splurge for me since I did not NEED a moto jacket, but I’m glad I pulled the trigger. FIT: I’m wearing a small.
Tops:
I just love black-and-white stripe tops! What’s not to love? I love stripes, and I love black and white. Done. And do you know what I think is the best part about a black-and-white stripe top? There is literally nothing it doesn’t go with. Think about it. It even goes with blue jeans and brown boots for that cool, black-with-brown look.
Stripe Long Sleeve Tee RAGDOLL– I really love this tee because the stripes meet up on the side, and it’s simple and classic. FIT: I’m wearing an XS in this picture. The arms are a little tights, so I’m returning it for the S.
Stripe Funnel Neck Tie Sleeve Sweatshirt – How perfect is a loose fitting black-and-white stripe sweatshirt?!?! I’m in. FIT: I’m wearing a small.
Ingrid Chambray Shirt – If you are looking for a chambray shirt, I really like this one. It was the lightest, most flowy chambray shirt I’ve ever put on. No lie. I’m always surprised by how often I wear chambray shirts. FIT: I’m wearing an XS.
Another Eternity Blouse – This top is just too pretty. This is one of those tops you can wear with black pants to work and just as easily wear it with jeans to dinner. It’s cute. It makes a statement, and I don’t suspect a lot of people will have it. OH WHOA, they make it in white, too! What a great top for Thanksgiving! FIT: I’m wearing an XS.
Marled Mock Neck Pullover – A marled navy sweater that’s not itchy or bulky? Count me in. You can wear it with any color combination- black, blue, and brown. Wait, what can you not pair with navy? Ha! FIT: I’m wearing an XS.
Denim:
I have been on a MAJOR denim search. I’ve been looking for a fresh, updated denim look. I tried on about 45 pairs (no joke). You only see a fraction of the amount in this photo. Well, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw my friend Lyndsey (from at L. Avenue) posted these jeans on her Instagram. So I ordered them to give them a try, and viola!!! They are THE winning pair!
Crop Mini Boot Jeans – So far, I’ve worn them with tennis shoes, flats, and my high heeled booties from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. They are doing exactly what I was hoping they would! They give me an updated denim look to play with! FIT: True to size.
Rag & Bone The Dre Slim Boyfriend Jeans – If you didn’t want to go so funky, I really like these. I can see these as the perfect jeans to wear with sneakers and short booties. FIT: True to size.
7 For All Mankind b(air) High Waist Skinny Jeans – But don’t worry, I’m still wearing my skinnies! I even ordered myself a new pair of my favorite high waisted grey skinnies from 3 years ago. I like that these are a little bit longer. FIT: True to size.
Shoes:
I love a black flat. I have quite a few black flats in my wardrobe, and they all have a different vibe- dressy with a bow, feminine with an ankle strap, a cool velvet mule, and a classic suede d’orsay flat.
With all of these cropped and funky hemlines, I’m really digging flats with an ankle strap. To me, it feels like it finishes the look, but this may be because I’m tall.
Topshop Kisses Ballet Flats – How pretty are these ballet flats with pearl detail? This a fun way to follow the pearl trend without going overboard. FIT: They run true to size. They were a little wide on me, but I have very narrow feet.
Rebecca Minkoff Vivica Ankle Strap Flat – Talk about edgy! I love the vibe of these flats. I also love that they have the look of the Miu Miu ballet flats, but I like these even better. Plus, they are a SIXTH of the price! FIT: True to size.
Sneakers:
Vince Camuto Kindra Stud Slip-On Sneaker – I love these edgy sneakers. These sneakers would make any outfit look cool. They make them in both silver and gold. FIT: If you’re between sizes, size down. I’m typically an 8-8.5, and I like the way the 8 fits best.
Steve Madden Gwen Embellished Slip-On Platform Sneaker – If you’re looking for a new sneaker that’s hip and on trend but not edgy, these are great! I love the blue bird!
There is some cute stuff in this post, huh?! You’ll be seeing a lot of these items in future posts. If you’d like to see how I wear these items day-to-day, be sure to follow along on Instagram. Happy shopping!

Love all these ideas! I’m going to a tailgate in the New England in mid November. I’m totally stuck on what to wear! It could be cold but I want to be cute (and practical)! Any outfit suggestions??

Let me think about this…

Another great post! I, too, have kind of been on the hunt for a leather jacket but it’s hard to justify the price. I only have a faux one right now. Sounds like this Topshop one may be the one I finally buy! And Rails really makes the best button downs. I just did a post on my blog about their plaid tops and how they lay so perfectly and are soft. So I totally agree. Still wish I’d bought the embroidered one that was included in the anniversary sale. And love the marled top. I added to my basket. 🙂 Denim is SO hard! Glad you had the patience to try so many.

Thanks Renee! I think you’ll love the jacket! I’m going to check out your Rails post!

Hi! Did you find one?!?

I tried both leather jackets and ended up with the Madewell one (which I have bought and returned twice now because of guilt on the $$$). Could you do a post about what to wear with the black leather jacket, specifically shoes to pair with it??
Carly Lee says
Sure!
