I feel like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a perfect time to purchase big tickets items, like a coat. So, I’m starting off this post with my favorite coats featured in the Sale. Unfortunately, the in-store #NSale outerwear department had VERY few items. I guess the silver lining to this is that if you’re shopping online instead of in-store, you’re not missing much!
Here are my favorite coats:
Have y’all seen a prettier coat? I don’t know what I like best about this coat– the color, the cut or the fact that it’s by VINCE and they make such good quality, timeless pieces. I love the hood. I even love the jacket completely open without the belt. And I love that it’s short! Oh, and it has POCKETS!!! Welp, I officially love this coat!
I’m equally as impressed with this coat. I love how expensive and classic this coat looks. There are no metallic buttons, big pockets, or major lapel that’s going to date it in the coming years. If you are looking for a coat that will stand the test of time, look no further.Avec Les Files Double Breasted Coat
On the flip side, if you don’t care about keeping a coat for years and you just want to have a really fun coat to wear, I love these:
I love a wrap coat because you don’t have to worry about buttoning the front. Just wrap yourself up like you would a blanket and give yourself a waistline with a belt. Sure does beat trying to button your coat over a chunky sweater. Plus, usually a coat with a fabric drape like this will fall into two arrows pointing at your waistline.Cole Haan Blend Wrap Coat
This is the prefect time to buy a puffer if you need one because puffer jackets can be so expensive! I love my Patagonia puffer. Like, LOVE it! I’ve had it for over 7 years, and I just can’t find anything I like more. I’m always warm in it but not hot. It’s odd, actually, which is why I’m super excited quite a few Patagonia’s are included in the sale! It’s hard to decide which color or which style. For me, I have to have a hood, I like for it to be water resistant, and I like the less bulky look of this one. BUT, sometimes I like the big puffy look! Argh, so hard to decide.Patagonia Nano Puff Hooded Water Resistant Jacket
Here are a few of my favorite puffers included the sale:
I have a sweater coat I wear all the time here in Houston. Since we don’t really get extremely cold weather here very often, I find myself reaching for my sweater coat all the time. Plus, it’s easy to throw over most of my outfit. It has roomy arms to wear over my sweaters and covers all of me when I’m in workout wear.BB Dakota Revolution Drapey Boucle Trench Coat
I think this would be the perfect solution for when it’s cold outside (but not freezing) and you have long sleeves that you don’t want to stuff into a jacket! I’ve never had a long puffer vest, and now I’m wondering why not? Ha!
I have to be 100% honest you guys regarding this jacket. It might not be the most flattering thing I’ve ever put on my body (ok, it’s not), but it was so dang comfortable. It felt like I was wearing the inside of my UGG socks all over my body, and sometimes comfort wins over everything else- even for this form fitting, flattering obsessed stylist.BB Dakota
I’m seeing lots of blazers being offered recently. I feel like they are everywhere, more so than usual. At first thought, you’d think you wouldn’t really get a lot of wear out of them with the stay-at-home lifestyle, but I have a client who says she’s really liking them to throw on over her tees for Zoom calls. Genius! Also, a great idea for when you are dressed in a t-shirt and jeans and you need to look more dressed up is to just throw on a blazer!
Here are my picks for fun blazers:

My sister and I tried on all the denim we could while in the store shopping, but unfortunately, that wasn’t a lot. Here’s the good thing!! I’ve been helping ladies find that perfect pair of denim for over 8 years now, so I have some great insight!
I believe a pair of high-waisted, dark wash skinny jeans are a staple in a wardrobe. I can’t tell you how many times I grab mine. When all the other jeans don’t look quite right with my outfit, a high-waisted, dark wash skinny jean saves the day. Case in point- the day I shopped the NSale, I ended up wearing my high-waisted, dark skinny jeans after trying on at least 4 other pairs of jeans. I like this pair by Joe’s specifically because they don’t have yellow stitching, making them a little dressier and less causal. But, I mostly love these because I’ve seen this particular pair fit well on all shapes and sizes, AND I have a pair of “Charlie’s” and love them!!!!
Joe’s Charlie High Rise Skinny
My favorite pair of coated skinny jeans are my Joe’s Charlie High Waisted Skinny Jean in Burgundy, so you betta believe I’m buying this black pair! They are the perfect coated look and not too shiny, so I feel like I can wear them in the day just as easily as I can at night. Plus, they have so much stretch for coated denim, heck for any denim! They are one of the most comfortable jeans I own.

Because I love Joe’s so much, I’m really curious about these “Honey Curvy Bootcut Jeans“.
If you’re petite and looking for a high-waisted casual skinny jean with a lighter wash and casual stitching, my pick is ‘The Looker’ by MOTHER. ‘The Looker’ is one of their signature styles. What I’ve found with most MOTHER denim is that the waistband is like wearing elastic. Unlike other denim that cuts in at your waist, Mother just stretches, so no cutting into your skin! With a 26 1/5″ inseam, you won’t have to cut the bottom hem if your petite!
But, if you’re petite and you have a great booty (read it’s your asset, not “issue”) and are looking for a casual skinny jean, I’d recommend the PAIGE Skyline Crop Raw Hem Skinny Jean. I don’t know what it is about PAIGE, but they specialize in fitting booties without flattening them or having a gap at the back. I love the casual wash and stitching on these, and with a 25 1/2 inseam, you won’t have to cut the bottom hem if you’re petite!
If you’re taller and are looking for a casual skinny jean, I recommend the rag & bone Nina High Rise because it’s a 27″ inseam. Although I cannot speak to the fit of the Nina High Rise, I really, really love the wash/color of this denim for a casual jean. And, I always like rag & bone’s pocket placement. I’m also extremely interested in this grey pair. It looks like a great grey that would match a lot of items in my closet.

Side note:
My sister and I tried on one of our favorite jeans, the Verdugo by Paige, that are included in the Anniversary Sale (we both have a pair and love them). The rip didn’t hit right on my 5′ 8″ frame, but I think they’d be great if you were shorter.
I also checked out the MOTHER Looker High Waist Skinny at the store. Unfortunately, I found the white thread that shows through at the rip and in the wash to be yellow. White thread with a tinge of yellow bothers me. If that doesn’t bother you, check them out.
I am very interested in the Farrah High Waist Skinny Jean by AG offered in the #NSale. Historically, Farrah High Rise is a winner on so many body types. Unfortunately, they did not have them in store.
If I was petite, I’d be hopping all over these jeans. I love FRAME, I love the color, and I love the edgy look.
